Each year, Elysium Healthcare celebrates the creativity and talent within its secure mental health services through a collaboration with the Koestler Arts Exhibition. I served as the primary shooter for a documentary-style project that followed the journeys of several service users—individuals in secure settings—whose artwork was selected for the exhibition. Filming in these environments, often with people facing complex and severe mental health challenges, presents unique difficulties. Yet, the opportunity to help amplify voices that are so often unheard is both powerful and deeply rewarding.
One of my first fully independent projects at As You See It Media involved producing a promotional video for a rural high school operating on a limited budget. I managed every stage of the production process—from pre-production planning, including obtaining consent and scouting locations, to filming with drone and gimbal, capturing voiceover, and overseeing post-production editing through to final delivery. The project was both a creative challenge and a valuable opportunity to demonstrate end-to-end production capability within real-world constraints.
This is one of several customer success stories I filmed and edited for Propel Finance as part of a nationwide campaign. Our work took us across the country, capturing stories from a diverse range of businesses. For this particular shoot, we utilized drone footage both indoors and outdoors to add dynamic visual interest, and set up a three-camera multi-cam interview to ensure a polished, professional look and feel. The project combined creative storytelling with technical precision to highlight real customer experiences in a compelling way.
One of several Care In Focus films I created for Elysium Healthcare, this piece remains a personal favourite. It follows Laura as she returns to the service where she once received care, sharing her journey and progress with the staff who supported her. The film highlights the powerful relationships formed in mental health settings and the lasting impact of compassionate care.
We were approached by Sparkle, a wonderful charity that supports children with special needs and their families across South Wales. I served as lead camera operator and editor on the project, helping to tell the charity’s story through heartfelt visuals and authentic moments that reflect the impact of their work.
One of our core projects for Elysium Healthcare involved producing video tours for their newly opened or refurbished services across the UK. Using a combination of gimbal footage, drone shots, and carefully composed slow pans, we created visually engaging tours that highlight the quality and atmosphere of each space. These videos are designed to help future service users feel more at ease and familiar with the environment before they even arrive.
